The start of glutenfree.berlin

Unlike dining out as a vegan or vegetarian, there is still a lot of headway to be made when enjoying a gluten-free meal at a restaurant in Berlin. Unfortunately, the general knowledge concerning what it takes to cater to gluten-free or even celiac diners is abysmal. Simply asking if something contains gluten and relying on the response can lead to unsatisfactory outcomes.

However, this does not mean that you won’t be able to enjoy a good meal. You can even try some Berlin-famous Döner kebab or some gluten-free schnitzel. Just not everywhere.

What, and why?

I moved to Berlin in 2018 and have been painstakingly (literally, unfortunately) doing the exploring for you. I want to share my findings and tips on navigating this evolutionary deficiency through this website.

As a fellow gluten-intolerant individual and Berlin resident, I understand the challenges and frustrations of finding safe and delicious dining options in our vibrant city. It’s a journey that requires patience, understanding, and a good dose of adventurous spirit.

My goal is to transform the dining experience for those living with celiac disease or gluten intolerance. I want to take the guesswork out of your meals, whether you’re grabbing a quick bite at a local café or sitting down for a gourmet dinner at one of Berlin’s top restaurants.

On this site, you’ll find a wealth of resources designed to make your gluten-free journey more accessible and enjoyable. From comprehensive restaurant guides and reviews to delicious gluten-free recipes, you can try at home, I’ve got you covered.

But glutenfree.berlin is more than just a website. It’s a community. It’s a place for us to share our experiences, learn from each other, and work together to make Berlin a more gluten-free friendly city.

So whether you’re a Berlin native, a new resident, or a visitor to our beautiful city, I invite you to join me on this journey. Together, we can turn the challenge of living gluten-free into an opportunity to discover new foods, places, and a new way of life.
